Afterschool Academy Program for Youth
This program aims to ensure that youth from vulnerable families learn to be
self-reliant and grow up healthy by providing comprehensive services such as
hands-on activities, learning support, meals and counselling.
Who is eligible for the program?
- Eligible candidates
- 4th to 9th graders from vulnerable families who need afterschool care
- Selection criteria
- Priority is given to:
- Children from low-income families, single-parent families, grandparent-headed families, or multicultural families; children with disabled parents or working parents; and families with more than two children
- Other selection criteria are as follows:
- Youth approved by the Conference to Support Youth Afterschool Academies based on recommendation letters and relevant documents to prove the content of the letters given by the school (principal and teachers) and local communities (local community leaders and social workers, etc.)
What kind of benefits can I receive?
- Scope of program
- The following programs will be held five hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week:
- Hands-on activities, learning support, meals and counselling, special activities such as parent education sessions and camps, and guidance to ensure children get home safe
- The program runs throughout the year, for more than 4 hours a day after school.

The Ministry of Gender

- 3 Evaluation of
demand for new academyThe local government
will assess the demand for a new academy.
- 4 Evaluation &
